"I was born and brought up in South Wales. My parents introduced me to sporting and outdoor activities from a young age. With places like the Brecon Beacons and the Gower Peninsula on our doorstep, it was easy to get out and about against the backdrop of some stunning scenery.
During my university years, I took up running and have since completed numerous 5k, 10k, half marathons, and two marathons. After postgraduate study, I moved to London and worked as a research professional for many years, during which running was my main activity. Then my husband and I took up climbing, which I found difficult and scary at first, but is an activity I love so much now. I climb both indoors and out on the sandstone crags of the south-east, the gritstone of the Peak District and the varied rock of North Wales. I have also been known to get on a mountain bike now and again too!
After completing my second marathon, I started training with Suzanne Lubuska, founder of Wonder Woman Workshops UK to strengthen my shoulders after an injury. Suzanne is an expert kettlebell instructor and so started my love affair with kettlebells and strength training. My own fitness levels progressed to new heights and I decided to retrain as a fitness professional and specialist kettlebell instructor and am now an advocate of the value of strength training for all, especially women. I combine this with my love for the outdoors and strongly believe in the benefits of training in a natural environment."
